gone camping

One of the joys of tent camping is the simplicity—just a humble shelter stands between you and the wonders of nature. Then again, today's tents aren't necessarily all that humble.
You'll find an impressive array of choices, from lightweight, minimalist models you can carry for miles to durable shelters that can protect several people and their gear from the harshest conditions.
When shopping for a tent, "just like you would do when buying a home, make a checklist of 'must haves' and the 'negotiables,' " suggests Sharon Scott of The Coleman Company. "Generally speaking, you pay more for a tent with additional features, advanced materials or one in which you can stand up."
